Artlyst Review of Eve Arnold Retrospective at Newlands House Gallery


Newlands House Gallery in Petworth, West Sussex, is the unlikely venue of the UK’s first Eve Arnold retrospective in a decade: ‘To Know About Women’. A beautiful 18th Century town house in the picturesque village was transformed into a gallery which is rapidly establishing a reputation for showcasing high profile 20th and 21st century artists, with exhibitions of Lee Miller and Picasso, Frank Auerbach, Sean Scully, and more recently contemporary art power couple Annie Morris and Idris Khan.  ‘Eve Arnold: To Know About Women’ features more than 90 black-and-white and colour photographs, including some work that is on display for the first time in 70 years.
